We offer students a continuous and sequential education from Reception to Year 12 at a single, unified campus.

From 2027, families will be able to start their Tatachilla journey earlier at our new Early Learning Centre.

Learning at Tatachilla inspires curiosity, collaboration, flexibility and ownership of one's own growing knowledge.

The college views all children as inherently intelligent and capable, born with the profound capacity to learn, explore, discover, think deeply and flourish.

Throughout the educational journey from Reception to Year 12, the college facilitates deep learning by giving all students the opportunity to:

  • learn by ‘doing’ through self-initiated projects
  • focus on concepts that promote meaningful connection and understanding
  • enjoy intentional, focused time on tasks
  • develop skills in critical and creative thinking
  • undertake collaborative enterprise in teams
  • pursue self-directed, individual endeavour
  • transfer their knowledge and skills to new situations
  • receive timely and specific feedback
  • reflect on tasks and experiences
  • grow in safe and secure learning spaces
  • feel valued as learners
  • follow their own lines of personal enquiry
  • construct their own knowledge and make personal sense of the world.

As students advance through the year levels, increasingly more sophisticated learning tools are developed alongside their foundational skills and a greater emphasis is placed on learner independence.

 Tatachilla 2025

Early Learning Centre (ages three to four years)

Tatachilla Lutheran College has announced the construction of a new Early Learning Centre, opening in 2027.

The Tatachilla Early Learning Centre will welcome children from three to four years of age and will expand Tatachilla’s vision of providing a connected, relational learning journey for families across the Fleurieu Peninsula.

It will operate 48 weeks of the year and offer long-day care from 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday.

The Early Learning Centre will be located on the Tatachilla campus and will feature strong links to the college’s unique EcoSanctuary and nature-based learning environments. Aligned to Australia’s Early Years Learning Framework, the centre will focus on play-based learning that supports identity, connection, wellbeing, confidence and communication.

The junior years (Reception to Year 6)

Connection with others, intellectual growth and time in nature define the junior years at Tatachilla Lutheran College. These essential ingredients prepare our youngest children socially and emotionally for a lifetime of personal growth and fulfilment.

The middle years (Year 7 to Year 9)

During the middle years, students are further equipped with the tools they need to problem-solve, fail, try new approaches and rethink. The emphasis is on encouraging – not rescuing – students on their learning journey.

The senior years (Year 10 to Year 12)

Students in the senior years are given a greater level of autonomy and responsibility than in the middle years and are supported to develop the self-motivation and focus needed to achieve personal excellence.
