Serving our furry friends

Year 9 student, Anneli, has spent time baking these delicious pet treats as part of her Specialness Project which sees our Year 9 students harness their creative gifts and talents to serve the community. Anneli spent a significant amount of time researching what dogs and cats like to eat, keeping into consideration the nutritional benefits, before hitting the kitchen. Her baked pet treats are now being donated to Paws & Pals Homeless Support, an organisation that supports some of the most vulnerable people and pets in SA who are undergoing animal abuse, domestic violence, mental/medical health crises and homelessness.

Some of Anneli’s recipes include:

  1. Rice flour, eggs, coconut oil, peanut butter (natural, no added sugar or salt), pumpkin seeds. These were shaped as dog bones (suitable for dogs).

  2. Oat flour, eggs, pumpkin, carrot, olive oil, ginger. These are orange and shaped as dog bones (suitable for dogs).

  3. Oat flour, eggs, zucchini, peas, broccoli, sweet potato, olive oil, spinach. These are shaped as small balls so cats can eat them easily (suitable for cats and dogs).

“Thank you so much Anneli, people like you make all the difference in the world. I look forward to sharing some photos and videos with you of all the dogs and cats enjoying your treats.

We invited Anneli and her mum to our next free pop up vet clinic for pets of people experiencing homelessness.

Cat, Ray, was our first customer and he very much enjoyed these treats! Ray and his owner have been sleeping rough for around 7 months now. His owner was so grateful Anneli, you totally made their day.” Paws & Pals Homeless Support
