State honour for young volunteer

Year 10 student Tahlia Hicks has been named South Australia's Young Volunteer of the Year.

The award recognises Tahlia's exceptional contribution to Aldinga Bay Surf Life Saving Club, where she has devoted countless hours to supporting fellow members and helping create an environment where everyone feels welcome, valued and included.

In particular, Tahlia's involvement in the club's Inclusion Program has had a meaningful impact on participants and their families, reflecting her commitment to ensuring all members of the community have the opportunity to belong and thrive.

Selected from nominees across the state, the award acknowledges not only Tahlia's dedication to volunteering, but also the leadership, compassion and selflessness she demonstrates through her service to others.

Tahlia's achievement reflects the positive difference young people can make when they invest their time and energy in supporting their communities. Her willingness to lead through service embodies values that are deeply valued within the Tatachilla community.

We congratulate Tahlia on this remarkable honour and thank her for the example she sets through her commitment to inclusion, service and making a difference in the lives of others.
